NORTHSHORE NEWS NAMED “BEST IN THE SOUTH”

For the eighth time, the Southeastern Channel’s student newscast, “Northshore News”, has been named 1st Place “Best College Video Newscast in the South” out of 30 universities covering an eight-state region of the U.S., including Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. The award was presented at the 2021 “Best of South Awards” given by the Southeast Journalism Conference (SEJC) in a virtual ceremony.  Anchoring the winning newscast were students Lauren Hawkins of Ponchatoula and Trinity Brown of Baton Rouge.  The SEJC also honored the Southeastern Channel with first place as “Best College Television Station in the South”, the tenth time the Southeastern Channel has won first place as the best college television station in the region.
