Former Southeastern Channel reporter-videographer-editor Jacqueline Doucet has won 1st Place as “Best College TV Journalist in the South” out of 30 universities covering an eight-state region of the southeast U.S., including Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Tennessee, South Caroline, Georgia, and Florida. The award was presented at the 2021 “Best of South Awards” given by the Southeast Journalism Conference (SEJC) in a virtual ceremony. Doucet won for her feature stories entitled, “A Quarantine With Stars”, about Father Mike O’Rourke at the St. Albert’s Catholic Student Center who traveled to Texas to stargaze with his telescope during the COVID quarantine, and “Our Daily Bread,” about a local food pantry which serves the needy. Both stories were produced for the newsmagazine, “Southeastern Times”. In addition, Doucet was named as 1st Place “Best College Television Feature Reporter in the South” for her stories.
