Guidelines and Suggestions

Even if you use a smartphone – which actually can function as a pretty good camera – your movie will seem more “filmlike” within a horizontal frame. Since your eyes are “widescreen” (as is a regular TV), you can fit more of your story within the frame when you turn that phone sideways!Make it look like a movie - shoot horizontally!
How do you obtain the best reviews possible within a film festival that may have many entries? The best way is to be efficient with your images and ideas. In most cases, one page from a written screenplay is equal to approximately one minute of screen time. With that in mind, remember that working with a 5 – 10 page/minute script is usually ideal when planning your winning film fest entry.Short and Sweet (or scary, or stupid – it’s up to you)!
Storyboards, shot lists and actual written scripts help make sure that your final film stays close to your original creative vision. Without a pre-determined structure or plan, your production is vulnerable to all sorts of distractions and delays. Important documents such as scripts and storyboards can also insure that you don’t forget important shots and scenes.Download Storyboard TemplatesKnow Where You’re Going (before you begin)!
