The Southeastern Channel’s live student sportscast, “The Big Game”, has been honored with first place in the nation for “Best Video Sportscast” by College Broadcasters, Inc. at its 2020 National Student Production Awards ceremony. The November 21, 2019 episode of “The Big Game” produced and directed by Dylan Domangue and anchored by John Sartori, Richie Solares and Gabrielle Cox was selected as the national winner. It was the second time that “The Big Game” has won first in the nation, having won first place in 2017 and third place in 2018. The Big Game honor was one of three national first-place awards for the Southeastern Channel in the 2020 CBI competition, the most by any university in television and video from over 1,000 entries across the U.S. The Channel has now won 10 first place national awards given by CBI. Earlier this year “The Big Game” also won an Associated Press College Broadcasters award for the best student sportscast in the Louisiana-Mississippi region, and it was also nominated for a Student Production Award given by the Emmy Suncoast Region.
