Former Southeastern Channel news anchor-reporter Maria Goddard has worked around the clock at her Redding, Ca. television station, KRCR-TV News 8 (ABC) as it covers the sixth worst fire disaster in California history, the Carr fires right next door. The fire came so close to the station that
KRCR had to go off the air over the weekend. Over 1,000 homes and 500 structures have been destroyed in the fire. Goddard, a news producer at KRCR, said that despite the scare the ABC affiliate has been spared damage to this point. “I’m safe! Station is fine. Crew working around the clock. Some staff getting little to no sleep,” she said. KRCR provided over 100 hours of continuous coverage as the fires raged into the weekend. The station is now soliciting help for victims through the Salvation Army (CareforCarr.org). Goddard was an award-winning reporter for “Northshore News’ while at the Southeastern Channel.
