Southeastern Channel news reporter-anchor Amanda Kitch has been hired as the City Weekend Producer/Reporter at WAFB-TV Ch. 9 (CBS) in Baton Rouge (DMA 97). Kitch will serve as a lifestyle reporter on food, events and weekly happenings in Louisiana for the WAFB weekend broadcast and the Louisiana Weekend website. A national award-winning reporter-anchor for the Southeastern Channel’s student newscast, “Northshore News”, Kitch will begin at WAFB on April 15th. In 2017 Kitch was selected by College Broadcasters, Inc. as first in the nation for “Best TV News Reporting” at the National Student Production Awards in San Antonio. This past year CBI selected her for second place in the country for “Best TV News Reporting” in Seattle. Kitch has also been honored with “Best TV Reporter”, “Best TV News Story”, and “Best of Show in TV” by the Associated Press Louisiana-Mississippi College Broadcasters along with multiple Mark of Excellence Awards given by the Society of Professional Journalists for her news reporting and videography. She has won “Best of the South” honors for news reporting from the Southeast Journalism Conference (eight states) and Honorable Mention honors from the Emmys. Kitch has won multiple Emmy scholarships, the Capital Correspondent Association Student Scholarship, and the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters’ Student Scholarship. Kitch will graduate from Southeastern in May.
