Former Southeastern Channel news and sports anchor-reporter Jaylon Morris, now morning news anchor and reporter for WXXV-TV Ch. 25 (FOX/NBC) in Gulfport/Biloxi, Ms., and host of the station’s popular “In Your Shoes” segment”, has been anchoring WXXV daily newscasts with storm coverage along the Gulf Coast. His Hurricane Sally coverage included a phone interview with the Jackson County emergency management director as well as tosses to WXXV’s meteorologist Rob Knight. As Morning Show Host, Morris co-anchors the morning news shows from 5 am.-9 am. Mondays through Fridays, including live interviews on the set. For “In Your Shoes” which airs Tuesday mornings, Morris walks alongside hard-working South Mississippians to find out all about their daily jobs. A 2017 Southeastern graduate, Morris was an award-winning reporter-anchor for both the Southeastern Channel’s student newscast, “Northshore News”, and sportscast, “The Big Game”, winning “Best in the South” honors for best Feature Story Reporter at the Southeast Journalism Conference, made up of 40 universities from Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, and Georgia. He also won a first-place Mark of Excellence Award for Broadcast Sports Videography given by the Society of Professional Journalists at their 2018 Region 12 (Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee) conference in Little Rock, Ark.
