Southeastern Channel news anchor-reporter Chris Rosato has won first place in the nation for “Best Video Hard News Reporting” given by College Broadcasters, Inc. at its 2020 National Student Production Awards ceremony. Rosato won for his story, “Toxic Algae in Lake Pontchartrain,” produced for the Southeastern Channel’s award-winning live newscast, “Northshore News.” It was one of three Southeastern Channel productions honored as best in the nation, more than any other university in television from over 1,000 entries. Earlier this year Rosato was named the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters “Student Broadcaster of the Year” and also won top honors for anchoring and reporting at the Southeast Journalism Conference (SEJC), made up of 40 universities from eight states. Rosato’s anchoring and reporting have played a key role in “Northshore News” winning best college newscast at both the Louisiana-Mississippi Associated Press College Broadcasters Awards and the Society of Professional Journalists “Mark of Excellence” Region 12 awards.
