For the ninth time the Southeastern Channel’s student newscast, “Northshore News“, has been named the “Best College Video Newscast in the South” by the Southeast Journalism Conference (SEJC). The newscast has now won first place “Best of South” honors seven times in the past 12 years, the most of any school in the southeast U.S. region. The SEJC is made up of 35 universities spread across Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Kentucky. The winning newscast was the May 25, 2022 episode of “Northshore News” co-anchored by Ross Chauvin of Houma and Alexis Genovese of Husser with news stories from reporters Chauvin, Genovese, Carson Fryou of Ponchatoula, Tristyn Turner of Denham Springs, Tanner Fooshee of Jackson, La., Jermaine Kelly of Shreveport, and Trinity Brown of Baton Rouge.
