Building on a decades-long tradition of excellence and innovation, The Southeastern Channel announces key staff realignments for the 2023-2024 academic year.
John S. Zaffuto
Director of Student Programming, Southeastern Channel
John has served as the operations manager of The Southeastern Channel since 2005. During his tenure, he has created and supervised several short- and long-format productions within every content category. A veteran director, writer, editor and producer with over 30 years of production experience, John is the recipient of numerous honors and distinctions, including three regional Emmy Awards recognizing his work for both the channel and university. John is the instructor of four courses focusing on the planning and production of creative motion media and also is the author of two published books detailing his research in the digital media field—”Essential Knowledge for the Aspiring Media Professional” and “Producing Graphic Media for Sports.”
Jamie Bass
Assistant Director, Video Operations
Jamie manages channel output to both Spectrum cable and online destinations, as well as coordinates field and studio productions. He is also a primary technical and creative consultant for several courses within the communications department. Jamie has been a part of The Southeastern Channel team since 2006, producing award-winning online courses and assisting students and faculty with various projects. He is committed to his role as a forward-thinking creator, who also enjoys helping students realize their creative vision.
Murry Daniels
Assistant Director, Digital Media Operations
Murry will continue to produce all of The Southeastern Channel’s digital and print content, from the website and live-streams to social media and print marketing materials. Murry also instructs students on how to engineer, prepare and execute onscreen graphics for live sporting events. With more than 20 years of experience in graphic design and web development, Murry helps to ensure The Southeastern Channel remains viable source of entertaining and informative content.
The upcoming semester promises to be a significant milestone within The Southeastern Channel’s legacy of providing expert instruction and guidance to the aspiring media professional. We look forward to working with the university administration and community as we help students prepare for evolving opportunities within the communications industry.
