SOUTHEASTERN CHANNEL WINS “BEST OF SOUTH” HONORS
For the seventh straight year and 10th time overall, the Southeastern Channel has won “Best College Television Station” honors in “Best of South” awards given by the Southeast Journalism Conference.

For the seventh straight year and 10th time overall, the Southeastern Channel has won “Best College Television Station” honors in “Best of South” awards given by the Southeast Journalism Conference.
Southeastern Channel news reporter-producer Tara Barbe has won 4th Place for “Television Hard News Reporting” in 2017 “Best of South” competition awarded by the Southeast Journalism Conference. Also honored as “Best of the South” by the SEJC was former student reporter-anchor Jaylon Morris, who finished 9th in the “Television Feature Story Reporting” category.
Southeastern Channel reporter-anchor Jordan Rheams has been hired as News Producer by WBRZ-TV Ch. 2 (ABC) in Baton Rouge.
Morris broke this story on Gulfport’s Billy Bennight, the D’Iberville, Ms. bail bondsman who encountered Parkland, Fla. school shooter Nikolas Cruz on YouTube last September.
