Southeastern Channel news reporter-producer Tara Barbe has won 4th Place for “Television Hard News Reporting” in 2017 “Best of South” competition awarded by the Southeast Journalism Conference. A reporter-producer for the Channel’s student newscast, “Northshore News”, Barbe won from over 300 entries from 30 universities in Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina. Also honored as “Best of the South” by the SEJC was former student reporter-anchor Jaylon Morris, who finished 9th in the “Television Feature Story Reporting” category. Morris, a fall 2017 graduate, is now a news reporter for WXXV-TV in Gulfport, Ms.
