Former Southeastern Channel news anchor-reporter Erika Ferrando has been named the best TV news reporter in the two-state region of Arkansas and Oklahoma. Now a TV news reporter for KTHV-TV Ch. 11 (CBS) in Little Rock, Ark. (DMA 58), Ferrando has been honored by the Arkansas-Oklahoma Associated Press Broadcasters with First Place for “Best Solo Journalist 2017” for her story, “Veterans Provide Burial for Veteran Without a Family.” Ferrando received a Mid-American Emmy nomination earlier this year for the same story. A former award-winning news anchor, reporter and producer for the Southeastern Channel’s student newscast, “Northshore News”, Ferrando graduated from Southeastern in 2014 when she was named the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters’ first-ever “Louisiana Student Broadcaster of the Year” out of all college TV and radio students in the state. A Mandeville native, Ferrando’s first job after graduation was as a news reporter for KPLC-TV Ch. 7 (NBC) in Lake Charles, La. (DMA 174).
