Southeastern Channel students were recently honored as winners of two Student Production Awards given by the Suncoast Emmy region of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Winning Emmy recognition were John Sartori of Mandeville in the “Talent” category for his on-camera composite of “Big Game” sportscast anchoring-reporting, “Lion Tracks” talk show hosting, and play-by-play announcing for Lion sports, along with the trio of Benjamin Delbert of Covington, Justin Redman of Slidell, and Jonathan Calhoun of Baton Rouge in the “Commercial” category for “The Cajun Spoon: Two Meals, One Spoon”, an animated spot they produced for the Cajun Spoon seasoning brand and dry dinner mix company of Baton Rouge for Comm 424, a television advertising production class. Receiving Honorable Mention honors were Freddie Rosario of Hahnville for “Director” of Southeastern’s basketball game with Southern of New Orleans, Wesley Boone of Alexandria for “Director” of the short film, “Intersect”, and Amanda Kitch of Covington for “Photographer” for her news videography composite. The Channel also received a nomination for “Sports- Live Event” for its broadcast of the Southeastern vs. Southern-New Orleans game. The Southeastern Channel has now won 17 Emmy Awards with 62 nominations in the past 13 years.
