Former Southeastern Channel anchor-reporter-producer Andrew Scherer has been hired as a TV news reporter at WXXV-TV (FOX/NBC) Channel 25 in Gulfport, Ms. (DMA 157). Scherer, who graduated from Southeastern this December, will also do sports reporting and anchoring at WXXV where he joins several other Southeastern Channel alumni such as reporter Jaylon Morris, anchor-reporter Taylor Rubach, and producer Heather Rogers. At the Southeastern Channel Scherer was a reporter-anchor-producer for “The Big Game”, named best student sportscast in the nation by College Broadcasters, Inc. and a national finalist at the College Sports Media Awards. He handled play-by-play, color analyst and sideline/courtside reporter roles for live sports broadcasts. Scherer was also a reporter-anchor for the award-winning student newscast, “Northshore News”, and host of the Southeastern coach’s talk show, “Lion Tracks.”
