Former Southeastern Channel videographer-editor Marshall Courtney is now in his seventh year as Video Production Specialist for the Ascension Parish Government. Working at the parish government’s cable channel 21, Courtney shoots and edits news-style stories on local events, produces and hosts studio interviews about Ascension Parish departments and agencies, and produces live broadcasts and replays of meetings of the Ascension Parish Government council and meetings of various boards, committees, and commissions. In August of 2018, Courtney became an FAA-licensed drone pilot, and he produces drone footage for Ascension Parish as well as for various freelance clients. As a freelancer, Courtney runs camera for New Orleans Pelicans games and also for the SEC Network where he’s shot most of the sports at LSU, including basketball, baseball, softball, soccer volleyball, and gymnastics. Courtney has also covered Tulane and UL games, and his work has appeared on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, and ESPNU, At the Southeastern Channel, Courtney was an award-winning videographer and editor, winning 1st Place “Mark of Excellence” recognition given by the prestigious Society of Professional Journalists in Region 12 (Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas) for his videography for a feature story for the student newscast, “Northshore News”. Courtney also anchored and reported for the student sportscast, “The Big Game”, and he was a chief camera operator for live Southeastern Channel game broadcasts of football, basketball, baseball, and softball. His camera work for a fall 2012 Southeastern football game earned Courtney honorable mention Emmy recognition. He graduated from Southeastern in 2013.
