Former Southeastern Channel sports anchor and reporter Trey Mongrue has been hired as Sports Director at KLBT-TV Ch. 3 (NBC) in Jackson, Ms. (DMA 92). Mongrue will be heading a sports team of reporters and anchors that covers Mississippi college and high school teams along with other local sports. Prior to KLBT, Mongrue worked two years as Sports Director at KALB-TV Ch. 5 (NBC) in Alexandria, La. (DMA 179). Before that, he was sports reporter-anchor for KTVE/KARD-TV in Monroe (DMA 137). A former anchor/reporter for the national award-winning Southeastern Channel sportscast, “The Big Game”, Mongrue won Society of Professional Journalist “Mark of Excellence” honors for his sports features along with Videographer Awards for the “Big Game” sportscasts he co-anchored. He anchored a “Big Game” episode that was nominated for an Emmy in 2011.
