The Southeastern Channel won 1st Place in the Nation honors twice over the weekend at the College Broadcasters, Inc. annual National Student Production Awards convention in St. Louis. The Channel won 1st Place for “Best Live Sports Broadcast” for its Oct. 20, 2018 broadcast of the Southeastern-Abilene Christian football game. It also claimed tops in the country for “Best Video Hard News Reporting” for Amanda Kitch’s story, “Pearl River Dam”, that she produced for the student newscast, “Northshore News”. There were 1122 entries from universities across the country. The Southeastern Channel has now won 1st Place in the Nation honors seven times. For the “Live Sports Broadcast” award, the play-by-play man was Dylan Domangue while Richie Solares was the color analyst and Schuyler Ramsey the sideline reporter. Parker Berthelot was on replay and Tyler Guidroz, John Williams, Jeremy Gaines and Tyler Rogers served as camera operators. Lily Gayle and Gabby Cox were production assistants.
