Southeastern Channel students have been honored with six first-place awards, more than any other university in the television competition, at the 2019 Louisiana-Mississippi Associated Press College Broadcaster Awards. The channel’s student newscast, “Northshore News”, produced by Kyle Orleans and anchored by Chris Rosato and Dana DiPiazza, won first place for “Best Newscast” along with first place for the best production overall in the television competition, “Best of Show in Television”, for which Orleans, Rosato and DiPiazza each received a cash award of $100 from the Associated Press. Also winning first place in the “Best Sportscast or Sports Program” category was the channel’s student sportscast, “The Big Game,” produced and directed by Dylan Domangue and anchored by John Sartori and Gabby Cox with Richie Solares as Guest Anchor. Sartori won first place in the “Best Sports Story” category for his “Big Game” story, “The Last Southeastern Football Ranking.” Domangue won second place in the same category for his “Big Game” feature on Southeastern Lady Lion basketball player, Jaclyn Scholvin. Rounding out the first-place winners was John Williams, who won first place in the “Best Videography” category for his videography composite.
