“Last Hope”, a short film by former Southeastern Channel student filmmaker Jordan Alfred, has won “Best Student Short” at the Save Your Eyes Film Festival in Irvine, Ca. The festival is a quarterly competition that is committed to bringing attention to worthy works of film and photography. Alfred wrote, produced, directed, shot, and edited the film drama this spring for his senior portfolio project in the Comm 498 class in the Department of Communication and Media Studies. The plot centers on Blair, a college student whose depression causes him to contemplate suicide. The lead role of Blair is played by Jeremey Watkins while Lorraine Weiskopf and John Austin Williams appear in supporting roles. Alfred, who graduated in May, produced, directed, and acted in vignettes for the national award-winning comedy show, “College Night”, while at the Southeastern Channel.
