The Southeastern Channel has been named a National Finalist as one of the top four in the nation in five different categories for the 2020 National Student Production Awards presented by College Broadcasters, Inc. The productions honored include the channel’s live student sportscast, “The Big Game”, in the Best Sportscast (Video) category, Northshore News reporter Chris Rosato’s story, “Toxic Algae in Lake Pontchartrain,” for Best Hard News Reporting (Video); Northshore News reporter John Williams’s story, “July 4th in Baton Rouge,” for Best Feature News Reporting (Video), Dylan Domangue’s personal documentary, “12 seconds at birth”, for Best Documentary/Public Affairs (Video), and Cameron Pittman’s PSA, “Gunny McShoot!”, for Best Public Service Announcement (Video). First-place winners will be announced Oct. 30th at the National Student Production Awards virtual ceremony.
