Former Southeastern Channel sports anchor-reporter John Sartori has been hired as a Sports Reporter for KTAL-TV Ch. 6 (NBC) in Shreveport (DMA 86). At KTAL, Sartori joins his former Southeastern Channel “Big Game” co-anchor Wesley Boone, who’s now the station’s Sports Director. Sartori reports on local sports in north Louisiana, southern Arkansas, and East Texas regions at KTAL. He joins Boone to co-host the popular weekly prep football show, The Friday Night Blitz while also co-hosting the station’s Sunday Night Blitz. Sartori’s stories have included a report on the local ice hockey team, the Shreveport Mudbugs, and their preparations for their home opener after cancellations due to the pandemic. At the Southeastern Channel, Sartori was a highly-decorated award-winner, winning two student Emmy Awards for “On-Camera Talent” given in the Suncoast Region of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. A 2019 Southeastern football game broadcast streamed live for ESPN-Plus for which he did play-by-play also won a 2020 student Emmy and was honored with third in the nation by the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) at the 2020 Festival of Media Arts. Sartori also won third place in the nation for “Best Sports Play-by-Play” given by the BEA. An episode of “The Big Game” weekly sportscast that Sartori co-anchored won 1st Place in the nation for “Best Video Sportscast” given by College Broadcasters, Inc. at its national student production awards and also brought home “Best Sports Program” from the Louisiana-Mississippi Associated Press College Broadcasters. The AP also honored Sartori for his sports feature, “The Last Time the Lions Made the Football Playoffs”, with first place for “Best Sports Story”, first place for “Best Videography” and “Best of Show” at the regional AP Awards event. Sartori also co-anchored and reported for the television newsmagazine, “Southeastern Times”, which won first place in the Louisiana-Arkansas- Mississippi-Tennessee region and second-place in the nation at the national Society of Professional Journalists’ Mark of Excellence Awards. Sartori graduated from Southeastern in May of 2020.
