Former Southeastern Channel news reporter-anchor Lorraine Weiskopf, the Morning Reporter at WXXV-TV Ch. 25 (FOXNBC) in Gulfport/Biloxi, Ms. (DMA 159), has been named the winner of two prestigious 2022 awards given by the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters (MAB) out of all television stations and professionals in the state. Weiskopf won 1st Place in the “Special Report” category for her series during Down Syndrome Awareness Month where she spotlighted local families with a child that had Down Syndrome. Weiskopf also won a 2nd Place award in the “TV Feature” category for her story on Olympic track athlete Cory McGee who’d just returned from the Tokyo Olympics. Weiskopf began at WXXV in May of 2020 after graduation from Southeastern. At the Southeastern Channel Weiskopf was a reporter-anchor for the national award-winning newscast, “Northshore News”. There she anchored and reported for the live weekly newscast, “Northshore News Update: Coronavirus on the North Shore”, selected winner of the national College Coronavirus Coverage Award given by the Society of Professional Journalists in conjunction with College Broadcasters, Inc., the Association of Collegiate Press, and the Society for News Design.
