Former Southeastern Channel news anchor-reporter Kristen Durand is now the Morning Edition Anchor for “Alaska’s News Source”, KTUU-TV Ch. 2 (NBC) in Anchorage, AK (DMA 147). As morning anchor Durand shares interesting stories and interviews public officials like Alaska’s governor for her viewers. Originally hired as a news reporter for KTUU, Durand still files special reports and features such as Part 1 and Pt. 2 of her “Alaska Roadtrippin'” series. Durand arrived in Anchorage at KTUU-TV as a news reporter and was promoted to Morning Edition Anchor a year ago. Prior to that, she worked five years for WXXV-TV (NBC/FOX) Ch. 25 in Gulfport/Biloxi, Ms. (DMA 157) where she was the weekday morning and noon anchor for WXXV’s “News 25 Today” newscast. At the Southeastern Channel, Durand was anchor-reporter for the award-winning newscast, “Northshore News”, and won a Mark of Excellence Award given by the Society of Professional Journalists. She also anchored the newsmagazine, “Southeastern Times,” while at the Channel.
