Former Southeastern Channel news producer-reporter Kyle Orleans has been hired as a news producer for WBRZ-TV Ch. 2 (ABC) in Baton Rouge, La. (DMA 94). At WBRZ, Orleans produces the 2une In morning shows at 5 am., 6 am., 7 am., and 8 am. He produces the 5 am. newscast by himself. Orleans started at WBRZ on Aug. 23, 2021, just days before Hurricane Ida hit. He moved to WBRZ after over a year as news producer at WXXV-TV Ch. 25 (FOX/NBC) in Gulfport/Biloxi, Ms. (DMA 159). While at the Southeastern Channel, Orleans produced the student newscast, “Northshore News”, named the second-best college newscast in the nation by College Broadcasters, Inc. at its 2019 National Student Production Awards in St. Louis. The Nov. 1, 2019 episode of “Northshore News” produced by Orleans was honored with first place for “Best TV Newscast” and also “Best of Show in TV” for the entire competition at the 2020 Louisiana-Mississippi College Broadcasters Awards.
