Former Southeastern Channel producer-videographer-editor Jordan Rheams has been hired as a News Videographer at WBRZ-TV Ch. 2 (ABC) in Baton Rouge (DMA 94). Rheams moves to his new role of news videographer after four years as News Producer at WBRZ where he produced the morning and 12-noon newscasts. In his new role as videographer, Rheams shoots and edits packages and interviews for reporters along with breaking news stories and live shots for the 12 noon, 4 pm., 5 pm., and 6 pm. newscasts. He’s also an emergency producer at the station. A May 2018 graduate of Southeastern, Rheams began working as a Producer at WBRZ before he graduated.
At the Southeastern Channel, Rheams was a reporter-anchor for “The Big Game” sportscast, a “Northshore News” reporter, and camera operator for a large number of channel events, including live game broadcasts. He also shot and edited various other university events, including faculty lectures, music events, short films, promos, PSAs, and live events such as graduation ceremonies and the Miss Southeastern pageant. Rheams was recognized for “Broadcast Sports Videography” by the Society of Professional Journalists’ Mark of Excellence Awards for Region 12 (Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee) and also by the Associated Press College Broadcasters for Mississippi and Louisiana.
