For the 11th time, the Southeastern Channel has been recognized as the “Best College Television Station in the South”. The channel earned first place “Best of South” honors for the fifth year in a row and the eighth time in the past 11 years at the annual Southeast Journalism Conference (SEJC) in Thibodaux, La. Its eight years of winning “Best College TV Station” since 2013 are the most by any university in the southeast region of the U.S. The SEJC is made up of 35 universities spread out across Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Kentucky. The Southeastern Channel also won first place for “Best College Video News Program in the South” for the student newscast, “Northshore News”.
In the individual categories, Taylor Nettle of Lacombe won second place for both “Best TV Journalist in the South” and “Best Overall College Journalist in the South,” Tristyn Turner of Denham Springs brought home third place as “Best TV Journalist in the South” and fourth place as “Best TV News Reporter in the South”. Jada Jackson of New Orleans won first place for “Best Advertising Staffer in the South” while Alexis Genovese of Husser won fifth place for “Best TV News Reporter in the South.”
