Former Southeastern Channel news reporter-anchor and producer Amanda Kitch is now a Multimedia Content Producer for Deep Fried Advertising in New Orleans. Formerly both an entertainment producer and news reporter for WAFB-TV Ch. 9 in Baton Rouge, Kitch handles photo and video services for dozens of Deep Fried clients across a variety of industries. She also operates as a creator where she shoots and edits photo and video content. Kitch produces for a variety of platforms, including social media, radio, broadcast TV, OTT, and YouTube, and in a variety of styles such as Instagram Reels, Facebook videos, :15 and :30 spots, brand videos, website videos, event videos, animations, motion graphics, and demos/tutorials. A few examples of her initial projects include a company demo reel, a Tulane Docs campaign :15 spot and :30 spot, a Louisiana Policy Institute Childcare Center Tour for Early Education Month, and the Hale Devall website. In addition to her Deep Fried Advertising work, Kitch is the owner and creative producer of the award-winning Media Desperado production company which she co-owns with her husband, Southeastern Channel graduate Santiago Rodriguez. Their recent Media Desperado documentary, “Big Rig Relief Effort” for “Unfiltered With Kiran” hosted by Baton Rouge news personality Kiran Chawla, has been honored with a Suncoast Chapter Emmy Award and several Telly Awards.
As a former anchor-reporter-producer for the Southeastern Channel’s national award-winning student newscast, “Northshore News”, Kitch won first place in the nation twice and second place in the country once in a three-year span for “Best TV Hard News Reporting” given by College Broadcaster’s, Inc. out of all student TV news reporters from all universities throughout the nation. With Kitch as anchor, producer, and reporter, “Northshore News” won second in the nation in 2019 for “Best College TV Newscast” as honored by CBI. Kitch was also recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists, winning second place in the nation for her “Broadcast News Feature Videography.” While at the Southeastern Channel Kitch also won a slew of regional awards given by the Society of Professional Journalists, Associated Press College Broadcasters, Southeast Journalism Conference (40 universities from 8 states), and Suncoast Emmys. A May 2019 graduate of Southeastern, Kitch was hired at WAFB three months before she graduated.
